Growth and Composition of Wool
Abstract
Wool fibre has been described as a natural, biologically interconnected system, containing more than 200 defined compounds, and protecting effectively the body of the sheep. This natural function of sheep wool is a result of certain biochemical processes, influenced by genetic factors and adequate diet, which are, on their part, reflected in the growth of wool, quantity of the crop and its quality. Aminoacids found in wool and their derivatives, as basic units of its chemical composition, have been described. New nomenclature for structural units of wool has been given special attention.Downloads
