Abstract

Properties and behaviour of textile fibres during their processing and usage depend upon their histological and chemical composition. Wool fibre as a natural protein system has been described. For the function of wool, of especial importance is the fact that it possesses certain supermolecular composition, which can explain most of its properties. New knowledge of this composition has been attained through a number of investigations conducted around the world, and some of them are referred to in this paper.
