Abstract

In the paper the problem of the production of natural textile raw materials in Yugoslavia is investigated. The possibilities and conveniences of natural condition are pointed out and the historical and natural dimension of development of the production of hemp, linen, cotton, wool and natural silk is discussed. On the contrary to the development trends on the world, particularly in Europe, this production has been almost thoroughly extinguished during the last three decades. The economical and social mistakes of the development strategy are considered, which neglects the advantages o frenovable resources of raw materials, for the production of which all conditions are available. Raw materials must be incorporated in the stabilization programs and in the visions of the future development as a component of solving the problems of civilization.
