Robotisation of Technological Sewing Process in the Clothing Industry

Abstract

A description of intensive investigations and utilisation of industrial robots in the technological process of sewing of apparel and the circumstances that led to the development of sewing stations and robotised »total systems« of the production of clothing is given. A review of investigations of robotisation of technological sewing process in Western-European countries by the use of the first generation revolute robots is presented and modular concept of robotised sewing stations developed in the USA and the Japanese concept of »total system« of sewing of apparel, based on the use of the second and third generation of robots is explained.
