New yarns and trends in knitting for the autumn-winter season 2003/2004.
Abstract
News from the field of knitting and the latest trends in knitting yarns are available at yarn fairs. In Europe, three major yarn fairs are held every six months - Pitti Filati, Filo and Expofil, which present defined trends for the spring-summer and autumn-winter seasons. The yarn market is dominated by yarns made of natural fibers such as cotton, wool, silk, and there are increasing demands for yarns made of alpaca and ultrafine Shamir cashmere. Among the new yarns made of chemical fibers, which are distinguished by special properties, the polyamide yarn Ultralon, polyolefin Dryarn and polyester Seril and Sunfit by Aquafil, filament yarn Wolkiss 2000 by Miroglio Group, DuPont's polyamide yarn Illuminae and polyester filament yarn Augusta by Unifi stand out. The designers for the autumn-winter season 2003/04. defined four main thematic trends. The first includes yarns of black and white tones from natural fibers, the second includes effective yarns with a non-uniform appearance from cashmere, alpaca, mohair, linen, silk and wool and cotton blends, the third includes yarns from animal fibers in orange, red, gold and gray tones, and the last, the fourth, which is influenced by Nordic and Scottish traditions, includes melanges, non-uniform, printed or refined yarns that give the knitwear a worn look.Downloads
