Influence of some Parameters of Cotton Fibres on the Quality of Cotton Combed Yarn
Abstract
From three types of cotton of different quality and origin, that could have their share in a blend for the production of cotton combed yarn with |the fineness of about 20 tex and percentage of combing noils of 14.5 + 0.5, three types of yarn were spinned and their main elements of quality. Longer and finer fibres give a greater stretch resistance on the spinning machine. The fineness, the peak power during the stretch-breaking, the breaking strength, the elongation at break and twists of all yarns have usual distribution. Particularly evident is the strength difference. Although yarn from Sudanese cotton X5B has a greater number of fibres |in the cross section and a greater average fibre length, its strength is less than that of Egyptian cotton Giza 69 FG-1/4. The yarn from Russian cotton 32/33 mm, first class, is generally of a lower quality.Downloads
