Abstract

Different types of electron and scanning electron microscopes (SEM) are described. Various working methods for the sample preparation and testing different types of materials using a scanning electron microscope are presented. It has been shown that the emission method is the best method for testing textile materials. Versatile methods for testing fibers and textile materials using a SEM are described. It has been shown that the SEM is one of the mostly used instruments in the field of textile science. Its usage enables the entry into the world of bio-, nano- and microtechnology.
