Analysis of electric power consumption in weaving terry cloth depending on loop height

This paper investigates the effect of a change in the loop height of terry cloth on the total electric power consumed by the terry loom. Specially designed measuring equipment for measuring electrical parameters in the textile-mechanical processes was used. A method of manufacturing terry cloth, with special emphasis on ways of designing and adjusting loops (pile), is described. The machine on which necessary measurements were taken and the system (with measurement computer and software) for measuring electromagnetic process parameters of the textile machinery are described. Measurements of voltage, current and electrical power for each phase, speed (change) in the time period for each change in loop height were performed, and all the signals of the measured values were saved in the measurement computer. After necessary calculations, statistical analysis and discussion, it was found out that the electricity demand of the system is very variable throughout the entire weaving process, and a significant increase in electricity demand is caused by the every third cycle in the interval of a full beat-up of the reed. An almost linear increase in electricity demand in the case of an increase in loop height of terry cloth has been found out and confirmed.Downloads
