Abstract

The authors report on the properties and structure of cotton fibre. Also cotton by-products and added products are described. In the preparatory treatment of cotton fabrics and and their mixtures with other fibres, these products must be eliminated. The importance of universal complexing and extracting agents is pointed out. The modern treatments of washing at the boil are explained, in which by additional bleaching also even hydrophility and whiteness are achieved. In this way a successful further processing of cotton fabrics can be achieved. By the use of very intensive washing, good results can be obtained also by one-step extracting process.
