Scientific Work and the Croatian Association of Textile Engineers
Abstract
Association of textile engineers and technicians of Croatia (now Croatian association of textile engineers) has, since its foundation invested a lot of effort to the development of scientific research in the field, besides permanent education of its members, publishing and education in general. The biggest professional library in the field of textiles was established, and the journal Tekstil has been publishing a number of scientific and professional papers, as well as reviews, which fulfilled a dual role - affirmation of researchers and permanent professional education of the members of the Association. The Association provided initiative and professional help in establishing professional schools, junior textile colleges in Zagreb, Duga Resa and Varaždin and junior college for clothing technology in Zagreb. But most of its effort the Association invested in the foundation and development of the independent studies of textile technology on the Faculty of Technology in Zagreb, which in time grew an independent Institute, and later on the independent Faculty of Textile Technology, as a part of the University of Zagreb. International scientific and professional conferences, organized irregularly from 1957 to 1980 have also played an important role in the affirmation of textile experts in Croatia, and especially so the cooperation with The Zagreb Fair, where yearly conferences have been held since 1980 during the Intertekstil fair.Downloads
