Abstract

A short and compact survey is given, based on literature references, of the types of folk costumes in Slovenia, from the period when folk costumes were characteristic for certain parts of Slovenia. The paper also deals with the differences between the terms of “folk” and “national” costume, pointing, at the same time the key factors of the development and changes in this part of the national culture. The second part deals with the most widely favored forms of jewelry, serving as a supplement to folk costumes.
