Impact of Hemming Machine on Garment Sewing Processing Parameters
Abstract
The impact of hemming machine is investigated, as a basic mechanical auxiliary device, on the values of garment sewing processing parameters, primarily on basic time necessary to perform the operations, degree of sewing machine utilisation, specific sewing time and average stitching speed in performing machine-hand sub-operations. Investigations were performed on ergonomically designed workplace, on a universal sewing machine equipped with a processing microcomputer. The operation of hemming was done on measuring samples of 300 to 1000 mm length, with pre-programmed stitching speeds from 1500 to 4700 stitches per minute. Usage of a hemmer considerably reduces the basic time necessary for the operation, machine utilisation is enhanced, specific sewing time reduced and average machine stitching speed increased. A hemmer used also results in more favourable operation structure, achieved through movement rationalisation.Downloads
