Position and Perspectives of Slovenian Textile Industry in Preparation to Joining the EU

Abstract

Position and perspectives of textile industry in Slovenia and the strategy of its preparation for joining the EU are presented. Textile and leather industries were the fifth on the list of Slovenian exporters in 1999, taking some 10.5 % of total Slovenian exports. Further development of the Slovenian textile industry will be based on investments into specialist education and application of new manufacturing technologies, development of new products and services, as well as on establishing international co-operation in the field.
