Textile Reinforced Concrete

Abstract

Possibilities are described of using concrete reinforced with technical textiles in building; its properties are given and comparison made with conventional application of steel and concrete. Textile structures are presented and results given of measuring properties of various concrete profiles reinforced with various fibres and textiles, as compared to concrete with no reinforcements. However, despite the advantage of low mass elements, a number of factors have not been investigated as yet, so that textile reinforced concrete will not completely substitute steel in concrete and conventional building methods.
