1,3,5-triacroylamino-hexahydro-s-triazine -New Polyfunctional Crosslinking Reagent for Formaldehyde-free Durable-press Finishing of Cotton Fabrics
Abstract
In this research work the polyfunctional reagent 1,3,5-triacroylamino-hexahydro-s-triazine (FAP) as a crosslinking reagent has been studied. The efficiency of crosslinking was studied by wrinkle recovery angle measurements (ASTM standard method) and by ATR FT-IR spectroscopy, penetration of crosslinking reagent into fibres was studied by electronic microscopy. The best results were obtained when 8 % of FAP in treating solution with pH values of 11 was used and when the steaming in wet or in saturated vapour was carried out. FAP has law solubility in cold water; therefore FAP dispersion in water was used for cellulose fibres treatments. Penetration of FAP into fibre was hindered due to it poor solubility; therefore FAP was modified into the water soluble form. The best results of cellulose fibre crosslinking was obtained by the thiosulphate derivative of FAP.Downloads
