Testing the recyclability of polylactide (PLA)
Abstract
This paper compares the spinning ability of polylactide (PLA) with the same chemical structure, but different thermal histories. Unprocessed PLA, recycled PLA and granulated recycled PLA were tested. The properties of different PLA materials are characterized by thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic mechanical analysis and size exclusion chromatography. PLA materials are spun at high output speeds of 2000 to 5500 m/min. The textile physical and crystalline properties of different fibers were determined. The deviations are in almost every case within the error tolerance.Downloads
