The main construction characteristics of classical weaving machines are described. Their analysis have pointed out the main limitations of classical approach, that reflect themselves as limitations of productivity. It proposes a new approach based on microprocessors technology that would improve not only productivity but capabilities of variation as well, which is one of the main conditions of modem textile industry.
