Abstract

In the last 50 years, Turkey has been among the ten largest producers of cotton fiber in the world. This paper presents the basic characteristics of the Turkish economy, with an emphasis on cotton cultivation and the textile and clothing industry. The most important world producers of cotton fiber and their shares in world production are also listed. UN extracts were used as a database. Cotton fiber prices depend on many parameters, and the listed prices are taken from stock market reports.
