Abstract

Pressure garment therapy has become a standard of care for the prevention and treatment of diverse medical conditions. Fitting like a second skin, pressure garments are engineered to provide a range of pressures to properly treat bum, vascular, lymphedema and general trauma injury. The paper presents the design of an integrated data entry, order processing and made-to-measure pattern generation system that is unique in the pressure garment industry. The design of adaptable made-to-measure pattern templates ensures that the desired fit and recommended pressures are achieved according to defined clinical needs. Development and implementation of tablet based computer methodologies to support data entry at clinics and remote sites is integrated with an enhanced order processing system (TOM) linked with CAD software for compression garment construction to create an end-to-end solution for the cost-effective delivery of custom made pressure garments.
