Abstract

The fibre composition of clothing is one of the basic parameters for meeting the requirements for the suitability of the properties of clothing for its purpose. The paper presents the data collected on the fibre composition and on the prices of selected men’s garments (T-shirts and trousers) on the domestic market in autumn 2017 and autumn 2018. The most commonly used fibre in both seasons and for both types of clothing was cotton, followed by polyester (regardless of price range). In addition to cotton and polyester, the presence of only four other types of fibers was recorded, however in smaller percentages: viscose, acrylic, elastane and polyamide. The absence of wool fibres in the composition of the tested clothing for autumn-winter conditions is surprising. There were slight differences in fibre presence depending on the price range of the garments tested, but no regularity was found.
