Abstract

Optimal parameters of enzymatic scouring with alkaline pectinase BioPrep 3000L (Novo-Nordisk) on cotton knitted fabric made of combed yarns were determined. The following parameters were determined using a 42 full factorial experiment plan: enzyme concentration, Bath pH value, temperature and the duration of the treatment. Two more experiments were performed to optimise bath ratio and impact of mechanical action on the efficiency of enzymatic boiling. Alkaline scouring was done simultaneously. The scouring effects were evaluated by measuring cotton fabric weight loss, performing water absorbency test with distilled water and non-ionic surfactant solution, by measuring the absorption of methylene blue, measuring the residual cotton wax and pectin of cotton substrate after boiling, by determining of pure cellulose by dyeing with a direct dye.
