Influence of Ambient Colour on the Sensation of Intensity of Yellow and Blue Hue
Abstract
Colour is not a property of the physical ambient, but a psychical sensation effected by a physical cause (stimulus) and depends on a physiological process in the organism and on various psychological factors. Colour senastion depends and varies depending on perception conditions such as the observer, ambient colour, energy level of lighting etc. Independently of spectral property of colour and psychophysical sensation depending on ambient colour, the paper analyses the relationship of psychical sensations, by means of physically measurable objective method. Investigations were done using yellow and blue hue (in complementary relationship). The paper also examines the influence of ambient colour (white, grey, black, yellow and blue substrate) on the psychical (subjective) sensation of colour. The investigations are based on a comparison between psychophysical values and values obtained by the objective instrumental and spectrophotometric method. The statistical analysis was performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test.Downloads
