Textile Knots
Abstract
Methods of tying hand knots used in the textile and rope making industry are described. This paper describes basic properties and performance of individual knot types because the knots differ not only in the method of tying thread ends, but also in physical-mechanical properties and knot dimensions. Three knot types were analyzed in three yarn types, namely cotton, wool and polyester (filament) yarns. Based on the physical-mechanical yarn properties and knot dimensions it was concluded which knot type is for which yarn most suitable. The obtained results have shown various yarn properties concerning knot type. Likewise, knot types are dependent on knot and yarn type. The greatest changes in physical-mechanical yarn properties caused by knot have been observed in polyester yarn, but the knot dimensions in this yarn are the smallest.Downloads
