Visual Corrections of Human Body with the Aid of Garment
Abstract
Artistic construction of garment collection starts with analysing fashion data, which are then linked with the designer‘s ideas, incorporated into the company genre, and aimed at particular sex, age and purpose. However, due to the immense size of the market and wide range of offers, customer is often disoriented and has no clear idea what would be most appropriate for him from the vast array of garment and accessories offered. Customer most often chooses the easiest road, not taking into account possible visual corrections of his/her body with the aid of the garment selected. The paper offers some directions for both fashion designers and customers to be used to correct body imperfections visually through proper garment selection. Two basic methods have been developed: shifting the accentuated transversal planes and dividing the body by using orientation lines. Implementation of these two basic methods results in the conclusion that men‘s body has less corrective points than women‘s do. In all the cases analysed it keeps the shape of a harmonious vertical rectangle. Women‘s body has highly sensitive correction points at the breasts, waist and hips and looses its harmony by transversal cutting, thus making visual correction through proper garment selection necessary.Downloads
