Influence of Apron Space on Yarn Quality Properties in a Ring Spinning Frame
Keywords:
apron space, apron cradle, apron pressure, ring spinning machine, cotton yarnAbstract
The distance between aprons is an important parameter for yarn quality properties like; evenness, thin places, thick places, neps and hairiness. For this aim with this research 15, 20 and 30 tex combed ring yarns were spun with two different twist multiplier of 35 and 40 and three different thicknesses of cradle spacers. According to test results, evenness is the most important property affected by the apron space. The decrease of the apron space improves the yarn evenness property. In addition to this, especially in fine yarns, the apron space has significant effect on the number of neps. The decrease of the apron space reduces the number of neps. The decrease of apron space usually decreases the number of thin places and thick places, however, the effect is not significant. Based on the Uster tester hairiness results, the increase of apron space slightly increases the value of total hair lengths protruding from the yarn body but the effect is not statistically significant. On the other hand, the apron space effect is significant on the number of hairs equal or longer than 3 mm per unit length. The increase of apron space increase S3 codes of yarn samples.Downloads
