Effect of Zeolites in Washing Agents
Abstract
The mechanisms of ionic exchange of water hardening agents (Ca+2 and Mg+2 ions) in zeolite structures and their importance in the process of washing are described. Besides of the decrease of water hardness, zeolite A showes additional properties which improve the washing process: adsorptivity of organic dyestuffs, possibility of heterocoagulation with soil particles, stabilizing of sodium perborate, as well as binding of partially soluble calcium phosphates, arising by water dilution in effluent systems. The use of the properties of zeolite A in washing agents will depend on the size, distribution and form of particles. By a controlled carrying out of the synthesis, spheric particles can be obtained, what considerably diminishes incrustations on the textile material.Downloads
