Fourty Seven Years of Journal Tekstil

Abstract

Through all the years of its appearance since 1952, in 12 issues a year, the journal Tekstil has had a significant impact on the development of textile and clothing industry and education in Croatia. Through offering informations on all the relevant events and recording all the activities of HIST (Croatian Association of Textile Engineers), Tekstil has contributed to a better understanding of all the problems in the field of textiles and clothing and affirmation of HIST, textile branch, science and skilled manpower. Considerable drop in the production of textiles and clothing in Western Europe has changed the global maps of textile and clothing production, and has resulted in the reduction of the number of textile magazines in Europe. Aggression on Croatia, changes in the economic system, as well as the well-proven ability of the industry to restructure its capacities and adapt to a new situation, together with the problems of globalisation, have resulted in the reduction of production capacities and output for about 50 %, compared to 1990. It has had a serious impact on the journal Tekstil as well. The conditions for further survival of the journal are analysed, together with the primary tasks of the editorial policy. In the course of the 47 years of its publication, thanks to the high-level contents and the fact of being quoted in international publications, the journal has gained a high respect, both in Croatia and abroad. The need for further engagement of textile firms, chambers of commerce and ministries in solving the current business problems of the highly professional, scientific and useful journal Tekstil is pointed out.
