Textile Materials at the Beginning of New Millennium
Abstract
Textile materials at the beginning of the new millennium are the product of rich tradition and high technology of the present day. Luxurious natural fibers, such as silk, cashmere and wool are blended with elastane, microfibres, lyocell fibres, metal yarns, and produce light, air-permeable woven and knitted fabrics, or, on the other hand, shaggy, bulky structures, but always of comfortable feel and interesting to look at. Fabrics are smooth, lustrous and of engraved surfaces, being made such in the course of weaving or knitting already, or as a result of some aftertreatment, such as ruffing, pleating, etc. Fabrics are treated by special processes of finishing, emerised, rubberised, or produced with a wet effect, treated to be resistant to bacteria, thermoregulating, resistant to UV rays, to fire and burning, abrasion, water repellent, etc. Simple fashion lines are under a dominant influence of the fabrics used. Articles of clothing are most often inspired by ethno- or sports-wear, simple in style and high-tech, due to the usage of high technologies in manufacture. It is a dynamic, everyday clothing, fulfilling all the desires regarding comfort, an expression of individuality, in mixed styles of fashion eclecticism.Downloads
