Modern Methods of Investigating Woven Fabric Construction Employing the ProVEZ Software
Abstract
Computer software ProVEZ has been developed and described, to be used in investigating woven fabric construction parameters for the purpose of education. Twenty students took part in testing the ProVEZ software. In the questionnaire they filled, they expressed their wish and need to include the software in their curriculum. The software consists of two parts. One is database comprising weaves, while the other contains the functions related to weave processing, together with the calculation of woven fabric technological parameters. The database with the weaves makes a representation of a number of weaves possible at one place. The weaves are sorted into a few bases, the name of each gives a hint of the origin of the weaves, or can be grouped with the groups representing the number of shaft necessary to produce them. Such a database saves considerable times when searching for a particular weave and is open for a permanent addition of new weaves. The weave selected from the database can be represented in a multiple repeat, with various patterns the weave comprises can be seen. The whole of the ornamented pattern can be presented, together with reeding, threading and matrice card for each weave selected. Matching weave and colour can be achieved by selecting colours for the warp and for the weft, with the appropriate weave. The speed of computer-aided method of combining weaves with warping repeat is far surpassing the method of manual .drawing and trying various combinations. A complex technological calculation has been made to obtain woven fabric parameters from a part of fabric construction. Fast parameter changes show the differences and offer selection of advantageous individual fabric parameters.Downloads
