Abstract

A survey is given of the developments in the field of defining duration in sewing sub-operations used in garment engineering in the process of calculating time norms and determining optimal structures for sewing operations. The methods described, as dependent upon the approach, are based on defining the duration related to stitching speed, workpiece feed, specific stitch density and the length of the sewn seam segment. The methods are described according to W. Oeser, F. Krowatschek, P. Ludemann, B. Kukić, using the Methodenreflektor device of Sigmaringen, the method following the MTM tables, as well as the one developed in the course of the research performed in the Department of Clothing Technology, Faculty of Textile Technology, Zagreb. Applicability of the above methods is accented, especially the possibility of them being efficiently used in defining the duration of sewing sub-operations.
