Abstract

As part of the research project IP-2018-01-6363 Development and thermal properties of intelligent clothing (ThermIC) funded by the Croatian Science Foundation, the Laboratory for Thermal Insulation Properties of Clothing was established at the Department of Clothing Technology of the Faculty of Textile Technology. An integrated metrology system was installed in the laboratory for complete tests of the thermophysiological properties of composite clothing and clothing. Most of the devices that make up the complete metrology system are original patented solutions of the project managers and team members and were presented at domestic and international innovation exhibitions, where they were awarded a number of recognitions and awards. The integrated measuring system for thermophysiological properties of clothing consists of a measuring system for determining static and dynamic thermal properties of composites and clothing (hot plate and thermal mannequin), a device for measuring physiological parameters of the human body in the exact evaluation of thermal comfort of clothing, a multi-purpose differential conductometer for textile composites and clothing, a device for non-destructive measurement of thermal resistance and water vapour permeability / water resistance (Permetest) and a device for measuring temperature gradients in composite clothing. In addition to the mentioned measuring devices, the paper presents functional prototypes of smart and intelligent clothing developed at the Department of Clothing Technology of the Faculty of Textile Technology.
