Abstract

Colour measurement has recently advanced considerably, but has unfortunately not been much used in weaving practice. Contemporary techniques of computer-aided fabric designing offer new possibilities, both in developing new designing procedures and in quite practical areas of application. It is thus necessary to define a functional link between colour measurement parameters and fabric construction ones. The theory presented here offers the basis of colour measurement, as well as the technique of calculating the content of a particular colour in a fabric sample repeat. Experimental part describes the comparison of errors in calculated value of fabric colour, obtained on computer- simulated fabric constructions for fabrics made of yarns with predetermined properties, and the errors obtained by spectrophotometric measurements of the values on the above simulations.
