Abstract

At the ITMA 2003 no revolutionary novelties in weaving were seen. Improvements of quality, automation and cost-effectiveness of weaving as well as ergonomic improvements of machine construction and simple operation are observable. The possibility of applying warp beam of a 1.6 m diameter and direct warp patterning by transfer printing on the weaving machine are being developed. Weaving speeds have not been considerably increased, and the highest development potential lies in air-jet multi-phase weaving.
