Abstract

A review of the basic characteristics of industrial robots and the possibilities of their application in the specific conditions of apparel industry is given. The definitions of industrial robots and the characteristics of robots with Cartesi‘s, cylindrical, spherical and revolute coordinates, as well as of the robots of SCARA type are discussed. A review of the construction and classification of robotic mechanisms, generations of industrial robots and a description of the programmable, adaptive and intelligent robots is given. The robotic sensors for the position, motion, force, moment, tactile and ultrasonic sensors and the visualisation system of industrial robots, with particular reference to their application in the technological processes of the production of clothing, is discussed.
