Twist Determination on Open-End Yarns

Abstract

Structural differences between the conventional and open-end yarns, caused by different way of twisting in both of these fibrous materials, lead to uncorrect twist values of open-end yarns, if the twist is tested by conventional untwisting method. In this tsudy the basic structural differencies of the open-end and conventional yarns are pointed out and the precision of the measurements of the twisting of open-end yarns in relation to machine twisting, using the »counterexperiment« method is presented [1]. Using the experimental results obtained, mathematical model for the calculation of real twisting of open-end cotton yarns is given. The fault is less than if the classical tension method is used.
