Textile Care of Textiles Containing Elastane

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the most appropriate cleaning procedure for the following textile blends: wool/elastane and cotton/elastane. Standard soils were applied on both textile blends and then cleaned by three procedures: single-bath dry cleaning, double bath dry cleaning, wet cleaning. The cleaning quality was determined by the colorimetric method and standard methods (dimensional changes, breaking strength and elongation, color fastness to rubbing, color fastness to perspiration, microscopy) for determining the cleaning quality.
