Abstract

The yarn thickness is only rarely applied in the practice, because this parameter of yarn is variable, caused by inevitably incorporated unevennes and because of variable elasticity caused by the influence of powers during the processing. In order to solve some problems of fabric construction, 'the real yarn thickness in a moment of the creation of the fabric must be known. For this reason the measurements of the thickness, caused by the influence of external powers were carried out. It was found out, that yarn thickness decreases notably less if the yarn is influenced by axial powers. This decrease must be considered to, as in the most of the processing phases the yarn is influenced by axial powers. The consequences can be observed on the yarn dimension, as well as on the form and properties of the textile product.
