Analysis of the elastic constants of woven fabrics for at random chosen extension directions

Woven fabrics are a special type of anisotropic materials having two mutually perpendicular planes of elastic symmetry and are called orthotropic materials. Woven fabrics are mostly used in the form of orthotropic plates with plane stress state. The thickness of the woven fabric is negligibly small compared to other dimensions, so thickness strain is ignored in this work. In this paper the values of elastic constants of woven fabrics for different angles of extension direction were analyzed. Modules of elasticity and Poisson‘s ratio of woven fabrics for the longitudinal and transverse axis and angles of 30°, 45°, 60° were determined experimentally in the laboratory. Based on the experimentally obtained values, theoretically calculated elastic constants for at random chosen fabric directions were calculated.Downloads
