Polyester Fabric Dyeing Using Disperse Dyes in Alkali Medium
Abstract
Possibilities of dyeing polyester fabrics using disperse dyes in alkali medium have been investigated. Disperse dyes in average and dark hues, resistant to alkali have been chosen. Dyeings have been performed in the presence of NH4Cl i NH4OH (pH 9; 9,5 and 10) at the temperature of 130°C, for 15 to 20 minutes. Degree of colour fastness, wickability and surface oligomers concentration have been measured on the samples dyed. These properties have been compared with the appropriate values measured on the samples dyed using standard procedure in an acid bath. For some dyes, the discrepancies are within acceptable limits (lower than 1), surface oligomer concentration is less than half, while PES fibres exhibit silky handle, increased wickability, and there are no noticable changes of physico-chemical properties.Downloads
