Abstract

The introduction of the quality management system on the basis of ISO 9001 standard is one of the prerequisites of enhancing competitiveness and survival in the market. In addition to improving the company image, ISO 9001 certificate, if the standard requirements are truly accepted and implemented, brings about improvements in the company. Regeneracija d.d. Zabok, Croatia, is one of few Croatian textile companies that managed to implement and certify its quality system and to maintain it over three years. Although the introduction and maintenance of the quality management system is a time-consuming and hard process requiring the engagement of all employees, the total benefit derived from the system exceeds the made efforts by a great amount. The paper describes some practical examples of positive effects brought about by the quality system using the example of reducing unsatisfactory quality, increasing in productivity and general level of training for each employee.
